On November 8 and 9, 2025, Saumur will host the first edition of NordicWalkin' Saumur, a flagship event dedicated to Nordic walking.
Nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saumur is transforming itself for the first time into a true playground for outdoor enthusiasts.
More than 1,000 walkers are expected for this exceptional event.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced walker, this event promises a unique sporting experience in the heart of the Pearl of Anjou.
The 2025 edition offers four marked trails suitable for all levels to allow everyone to fully enjoy Nordic walking and the exceptional landscapes.
This 7.5 km route is ideal for beginners, with its 7.5 km through the heart of Saumur's heritage. The trail takes you along the banks of the Loire to the majestic Château de Saumur.
The start will be at Place de la République.
This second route combines Nordic walking, cultural discovery, and a gourmet break.
You will discover the famous fine sparkling wine cellars where the region's iconic sparkling wines are produced, as well as the mushrooms grown in the troglodyte galleries.
This is the perfect route for exploring the region through Nordic walking.
If you are experienced, choose this 15.46 km route towards the wine-growing village of Dampierre-sur-Loire. The route winds through hillsides and vineyards and offers exceptional panoramic views of the region.
This demanding circuit promises to be a real athletic challenge.
This final route is reserved for the most endurance-minded, with a total immersion in the heart of Saumur's heritage.
Along the way, you can admire the famous Cadre Noir of Saumur, an emblem of French equestrian excellence, and the charming village of Rou Marson before returning via Bagneux.
